Everything is a remix, but YOU are only once

I woke up early (that’s before 5am kind of early) to the sound of THERE’S SMOKE IN THE BEDROOM, THE ALARM WILL SOUND. THE ALARM IS LOUD. -There was no smoke in the bedroom, but I did go from sleeping soundly (horizontally) to very vertical and in the attic bedroom in fewer than one breath and two steps. It was a tiny spider in the alarm. -far better than smoke, and I found out the alarm is effective in waking me up. A thought crystalised…

1. It’s near the end of the calendar year – what have I done this year?

Genuine first thoughts: I thought, I sought, I created, and I learned to live. live in a pandemic

There was a moment when the pandemic looked like it might be over soon. I distinctly remember actually being overcome with emotion at being vaccinated. SO many thngs I could do – people I could see, places I could go. I wept with the joy of possibility.

It’s not at all surprising that the pandemic still permeates my thoughts, and it likely will for some time, especailly as the virus keeps changing. We live in a time where awareness and adaption are actually requisites of living.

At this point I decided I was actually awake. Perhaps it was time to boil the kettle and perhaps write this down and I noticed…

2. Someone suggest watching a video called ‘Everything is a Remix Part 2: 2021’

Everything is a remix part 1 is really good – and I know it well, BUT, I had a very, very strong reactive thought:

I AM NOT A REMIX.

I AM RIGHT NOW.

I AM ONCE AND I’M GOING TO LIVE THIS DAY.

(yes, I thought that in all caps, and I. do genuinely think things like this) It brought me back to my first thought:

Pandemic. Deja Vue. No, it is not a remix. No, I am not a remix. Actually I wrote a book on this.

Hey that’s what I did this year!

– the point is there’s no need – pandemic or not, to just roll over and have the same old same old because you are worth happening right now.

You are not a remix.

(pause and breathe that in for a moment.)

My very serious question to you is:

What are you going to do about it?

Need inspiration for today – or for the New Year? A resolution? A new start? Read my book. If you know someone who needs inspiration, send it to them as an ebook or paperback. You can even listen to it and if you have audible (or similar), you can get it on your subscription, or get it from a library. The message of the title has become my mantra: Yes I Can, and it’s positive, practical, everyday stories will inspire you to find your yes.

(as an aside, it’s not about music – that’s just a picture of me early one pandemic morning working on my own ‘yes’ while the rest of my house slept)

and then, drop me a note to say what you thought- and what you did.

How will you not be a remix today?
