#MUS654 (2015 archive)

This year’s class starts on the 12th of September and YOU are invited to join in!

This is an open music class that is also taught on campus at the University of Chichester in England. The online content of MUS654: Creating a Curriculum supports the in class MUS654 that is Repertoire for the Young Performer.

In the music profession, those who teach individual lessons are pretty much on their own – and that means that there is a lot of responsibility having to do with planning technical and musical content. Having researched this, I found it is something that is not really taught – so that is why this course came about. It’s time to think about it.

Across the weeks, you will find different satellite topics that invite you to explore aspects of musical learning so that you can be in a position to then create something for your (or your student’s) use. It is like being a chef – you can’t cook if you don’t understand the ingredients, and when you do understand you can make amazingly tasty and balanced meals. You can follow the whole course or dip in to any weeks that take your fancy.

is not intended to be a solo sport. The idea is that each individual can reach out and connect with the wider community, so that through collaboration (tweets, posts, and comments), we can learn from each other.
