Everyday lessons: the blackbird

This is a completely non-academic, short post about the wonderful beauty of everyday. Yesterday, while cooking some veg (you can hear the pepper and leek sizzling in the background) this blackbird did some preening about three feet away from me. There was a pane of glass between us, but he definitely saw me, and didn’t mind one bit. We have a small bird bath in our back garden, and this little blackbird had taken full advantage of a cool bath on a hot June day. Enjoy a look into birdie self-care. I’m going to take a lesson from this bird, that it’s important to take care of you.

I am reminded how often I don’t take time for myself, and that bird is a more elegant metaphor for ‘put on your own oxygen mask before helping others’. (and it’s really cute!)

Oh the blackbirds! ❤ #garden #birds #bath
